César Manrique

César Manrique Cabrera (Arrecife, April 24, 1919 Arrecife - Teguise, September 25, 1992) was a painter, sculptor, architect and artist originally from the Spanish island of Lanzarote. He combined his work with the defense of the environmental values of the Canary Islands. Sought harmony between art and nature as a creative space. Obtained, among others, the World Prize for Ecology and Tourism and the Europa Nostra Award.

Mirador del Rio, is located in the north of the island in the Risco de Famara. Dug into the rock of a cliff where stood an old coastal artillery battery, offers a privileged view of the archipelago Chinijo. El Mirador has a restaurant with terraces and large windows. Was conducted in 1973 by Cesar Manrique, who modified the original draft of Fernando Higueras with the collaboration of Jesus Soto and Eduardo Cáceres. It consists of two domes buried to reduce the visual impact.

Jameos was performed on an idea by César Manrique in 1968. A jamming is a lava tube created by the lava flow inside to which he has removed the top. Water Jameos consists of the "jamming boy" (which is located a restaurant) and "jamming big " where there is a pool surrounded by a garden. Famara (Lanzarote)

Famara Lanzarote,(Canary Islands, Spain).
It is located north of the island, including in the municipalities of Teguise and Haria with a length of 23 km. and is of volcanic origin. The highest point of the massif and the entire island is the Peñas del Chache, with 670 m. altitude. On the west side is a cliff above the beach at Famara and the Atlantic Ocean. Further north is the Mirador del Rio, the work of artist Cesar Manrique, where you can see the island of La Graciosa and the Archipelago Chinijo. Famara Crags host a Special Protection Area for Birds.
Caleta de Famara is also known to the beach at the foot of the mountain and is the northern boundary of El Jable, sandy area that juts into the heart of Lanzarote, and the people of the same name, near the beach and falling the municipality of Teguise. The dominant trade winds on the coast makes the temperatures more moderate than in other areas of the island, and encouraging the practice of water sports like surfing.
