Walking in Canary Islands

Walking is health, but also an intimate experience of freedom and silence. Walking alone through the mountains is a commitment to caring for the body and mind and keeps us immune to future therapies.

The ride is an encounter with solitude and silence, an experience that far from being tortured teaches us, nourishes and defends us because it reinforces our bodies and our will.

Las Salinas, Playa de Vargas (Gran Canaria)

This salt, is classified as an old salt clay, and is considered one of the most lustrous of the Canary Islands, making the area a beautiful place, with its tidal wave of pink, contrasting with the white of a salt, which precisely not fit in a boat, which produces about 80,000 tons of salt.

The best way to get to "Las Salinas" I recommend you go along the coast from beach to beach Burrero Vargas. Along the way you see the amazing sight of the beach, greenhouses, small ponds and large wind generators.

Surely if you love the adventure but you should visit this place by bike or walking.

Sorrueda (GRan Canaria)

The dam is located in the municipality of Santa Lucia, near that town exactly.
An amazing picture can find there are many palm trees there and the large number of species found in that environment.

First I would recommend visiting the viewer area, where you can get some wonderful photos of the dam and its surroundings, and admire the wonderful place where the dam is located.

The sunsets are spectacular in the dam, and also, if we feel like eating, we can always approach the village of Santa Lucia and enjoy good food in small restaurants.

Garañon (Gran Canaria) by Elena

The path which leaves Llanos del Garañón is straightforward and leads us to Cruz de Tejeda, a crossroads for the whole Island and an obligatory passing place for the traveller. The area made up by Llanos del Garañón and Llanos de la Pez has spaces for recreation and relaxation, providing toilets, drinking water, barbecues, tables with seats, and a bar and small shop.
Leaving Garañón, after 100 metres of dirt track situated to the right of the green fence of the campsite and following a slight ascent and a small pinewood, we cross over another dirt track which takes us to the Camping Area of Corral de los Juncos. Here, we find two paths going down. The one on the left continues over a bed of pine needles onto a stony path which in turn leads us to cornice from where we can view the Caldera de Tejeda. The crater, hewn out of steep ravines, is crowned by two of the geological symbols of the Island: the Roque Nublo and the Roque Bentayga.

Badajoz Ravine (Tenerife)

If you are passionate about nature and like the mysterious, I think this place is what you want.

My experience in this place is not very different from the stories they tell of that place. Honestly, it can scare a lot. It all started 2 years ago during spring break, some friends invited me to spend the weekend in Tenerife, and the plan was to hold a camp in the ravine of Badajoz, situated in the municipality of Güimar. I had heard some of the stories of this ravine were counted as:

- It is the gateway to another dimension
- luminous beings that were there
- The myth of the mining caves (caves that are closed to prevent the passage of many curious)
- colored lights on the walls of the gorge
- Gregorian sing ....

I could go on telling many but I lived there was very normal. Leaving aside the mysterious item, the gorge itself is a wonder, mysticism and the flora and fauna found there makes it a place where travelers nature lovers attend.

Guayadeque

From childhood I remember how every weekend I told my mother I wanted to go with my cousins to the cave in the ravine have Guayadeque. I hope to convey with my words a little of what there anyone can live.

The ravine Guayadeque one of the most beautiful and emblematic Gran Canaria, extends from the coast of Agüimes to the center of the ravine isla.La Guayadeque population is small but there are still certain cores, highlighting a small nucleus in "The Marteles "where is the chapel.

It was declared natural monuments because regufgia valuable treasures: an interesting collection of native flowers, numerous caves, settlement of the ancient inhabitants of the island and still partly inhabited today. They also highlight the numerous archaeological finds, which most of which are outlined in the Canary Islands Museum and the Archaeological Museum, built on the cliff.
On the other hand, is a good place for a good picnic, either with the family having a barbecue or in the many restaurants that are there, restaurants dug into the rocks of the mountain, where you eat food as good as pig meat, potatoes, wrinkled and "gofio".

If in doubt a place where a visit is required to watch this amazing place on the island of Gran Canaria.

Concurrently with the above, it must state that one of the attractions include large varieties of flora and fauna that can be viewed during the tour including the observation of birds and native birds.

Roque de Los Muchachos (La Palma)

In the summer of 2010, while traveling in La Palma, I recommend going to a landmark of the island, the Roque de los Muchachos. A place where the earth and the universe are available to your eyes.

I remember that all citizens residing on the island that was appointed me a wonderful place, whose location in the middle of the Atlantic, and the peculiar climate trigger the formation of clouds between 1000 and 2000 m in height, which act as a mirror and prevent the light pollution of coastal populations hamper the observation of stars.

By midafternoon, about 17:00, we went by car to the top of the island. The scenery was spectacular green washed by the sea of clouds that gradually toward the island owner.

When we arrived at Roque de los Muchachos, the image is automatically recorded in your heart. You look around and see a sunset wrapped in a sea of clouds and monitored at all times by the spectacular image of the universe. Being in La Palma and do not contemplate the image of the starry sky is an option that can not afford.
