Residente en Berlín nos cuenta su opinión sobre las Islas Canarias

En busca de productos canarios en Berlín

Para ver el partido de fútbol de esta noche (Arsenal - Barcelona) con unos amigos alemanes (Ümit, Magda y tres amigos de ellos), se nos ha ocurrido hacer una pequeña degustación improvisada de productos canarios.



Para ello, hemos realizado una busqueda exhaustiva por todo Berlín desde el famoso mercadillo del barrio turco (Kreuzberg), pasando por varias cadenas de supermecados alemanas, hasta llegar al prestigioso centro comercial KaDeWe.



Solo hemos podido encontrar productos como el Mojo Picón o los mismisimos platanos canarios, así que tendremos que improvisar los platos para esta pequeña degustación.

Entrevista a una canaria residente en Berlín

En nuestra travesía por Berlín, nos hemos encotrado con Ylenia, una chica canaria que reside actualmente en la ciudad. Nos ha confesado que a pesar de estar viviendo una gran experiencia en Berlín, en la distancia valora su tierra mucho más que antes y se considera afortunada de ser canaria y de representar a sus islas fuera de ellas.

Alfredo Kraus and Las Canteras Beach (Gran Canaria)

The tour of the Las Canteras is situated few meters from the beach. Its length is about 3 kilometers making it ideal for me to maintain physical fitness by the practice of 'jogging' at the same time to enjoy a unique atmosphere, filled with bars and restaurants, live music, artists performing their work, male statue, etc and also the freshness of the sea.



At one end of the walk you can find the Alfredo Kraus auditorium where I could enjoy the concert of Pedro Guerra, and make my fringe of the institute and, in turn repeat scenario for the fringe of the university. This is a beautiful place because of its large size and in addition to the large window through which you can see the sea.

Castillo del Romeral (Gran Canaria)

The "Castle Romeral" is a small fishing village located in the southwest of the island of Gran Canaria.

Surf in Las Canteras (Gran Canaria)

My first experience was this summer surfing at the beach in the Las Canteras, to be exact in the area known as the Ciser. It is a good place to learn and that brings good waves and in turn is a site considered dangerous if you are careful. On a personal level was a big challenge because I never imagined being able to get up on a table and balance, and to be my first time I did anything wrong.

However, that of falling so many times in the attempt and made quite frustrated when they had just given back to the full body hurt. But in short I had with it is something that repeated again, plus once you have made something that had long been wanting to do.

Arinaga Beach (Gran Canaria)

The Arinaga is located in the southwest of the island of Gran Canaria.

I had the fortune of passing my childhood at the beach of Arinaga. It's a nice and relax beach, where I could learn how to fish, throw stones to the water, how to swim, and dive. Here you can observe one of the best sundowns of the island. One of the best memories I have here is the afternoon i first fell in love and gave my first kiss.

Arinaga Lighthouse and Cabron beach (Gran Canaria)

In the southwest of the island of Gran Canaria you can find two wonderful places.

The first is the Arinaga Lighthouse, where you can feel the wind in your face, and admire the stunning views seen from the beach of "Cabron" and Arinaga beach.

Los Indianos (La Palma)

International Folkloric Festival (Ingenio - Gran Canaria)

Forward a project that began in July next sixteen years in business. Produced by the Cultural Association Ingenio Songs and Dances of the "International Folklore Festival Villa de Ingenio" Shows Solidarity of the Peoples" is an event that each summer makes Gran Canaria and in particular the town of Ingenio, becomes a party where is leading the dance and music.


It is gratifying to meet annually in July involved in a project that unites the world through culture, dance, music and tradition.

Years of experience have enriched us culturally, day by day, being with the embassies where we share not only dance and tradition but sometimes they are mostly friends who remain to this day. An act that each year we hope to not only the organization but also the public that there are attending workshops dominated the interaction between different cultures coming from as far away. It is not just a show where dance show but a time when the attendees enjoyed getting to know the components of the guests, tasting of foods from the countries participating in the festival, knowing about the cultural embassies, among so variety. An experience that is complemented throughout the week with colorful parades and performances in and out of our town.



Immersed in economic and social situation of concern, last year we face the tough task of following through with the festival but without the financial means for its realization. Thinking the best for the festival and for a people who love and preserve their traditions, the organization carries out mechanisms for the recovery of it reminiscent of rocky beginnings. Santa Rita Church (Gran Canaria)

Rally de Lanzarote

This year some friends attended the Rally Isla de Lanzarote and his words were clear: Spectacular.

My friends are from Gran Canaria, and bought a ferry ticket to travel to the island of Lanzarote, where they celebrated the event and to which attended every year. Once in Lanzarote, there was only going to the sections where the riders spent their cars at high speed and skidding.



I must say that in the Canary Islands has existed for years a great love of motor sport, especially at the rallies. Years ago I remember attending the rally Canary Islands when held in the municipality of Telde. Boat excursion (Gran Canaria)

A large group of friends we had a spectacular day boat trip on the island of Gran Canaria.

Jet sky experience

A unique experience on a Jet Ski at Anfi

Last summer I had the chance to try a new experience in one of the best artificial beaches of the island, Anfi del Mar. If you can afford to pay for renting the Jet Ski for half an hour, have to say it has a very economic price, it’s something you should try once in your life!

For me it was the first time trying it and I can say it’s been one of the best safe ways to release adrenaline. You can reach high speeds, feel the wind in your face, get wet, and a nice way to have fun during the day
