Para ver el partido de fútbol de esta noche (Arsenal - Barcelona) con unos amigos alemanes (Ümit, Magda y tres amigos de ellos), se nos ha ocurrido hacer una pequeña degustación improvisada de productos canarios.

Para ello, hemos realizado una busqueda exhaustiva por todo Berlín desde el famoso mercadillo del barrio turco (Kreuzberg), pasando por varias cadenas de supermecados alemanas, hasta llegar al prestigioso centro comercial KaDeWe.

Solo hemos podido encontrar productos como el Mojo Picón o los mismisimos platanos canarios, así que tendremos que improvisar los platos para esta pequeña degustación.

celebration in honour of the Patron Saint of the island, the Virgen de
Las Nieves. This celebration repeats the order given by the bishop
Bartolomé García Ximénez in 1676 to take the Madonna of Las Nieves in
procession from the Church of Las Nieves to the town centre to implore
her to end a devastating drought which had destroyed harvests and killed
people and animals. In gratitude for the end of the drought, it was
decided that this celebration would be repeated every five years from
1680 onwards.
The heart of the Bajada de la Virgen is split up into two weeks: the so-
called Semana Chica and the so-called Semana Grande. The former begins on
the last Sunday of June, with the "Romería". It is when Palmeros, wearing
the typical costume, carry the 42 pieces of the silver altarpiece from
las Nieves church to El Salvador church, where the Madonna will stay for
nearly a month. During this week, some events such as the Pandorga, an
evening parade reserved for children along the dark streets of the
downtown carrying candle lanterns of different colours and shapes (stars,
dragons, cars etc.), accompanied by the music of a band.

The so-called The Big Week begins on the second Sunday of July and it
encompasses the highlights of this celebration, including the parade of
the Mascarones (Gigantes y cabezudos), that is, big-headed dolls
representing different characters such as the Bruja (witch), Luna de
Valencia (the Moon) or the Biscuit. On Wednesday, they perform the Minué
or a 18th century dance dating from 1945. It was introduced to replace a
dance of children. Every year it has different music, composed by the
Palmeran Luis Cobiella Cuevas.

However, the highlight of the festival is the Danza de los Enanos, born
to honour the Virgen de las Nieves. It dates from 1833 on occasion of the
celebration of Corpus Christi. Don Manuel Díaz (born in 1774 and dead in
1863) priest of El Salvador church, who was very open-minded and fond of
celebrations, made sassy devils of modeled paper for this dance. Félix
Martín Pérez, teacher of Escuela de Artes y Oficios de Santa Cruz de La
Palma, went on using this material in this century. In the last editions
of Bajada de la Virgen, plastic fiber has been used instead.
In 1905, Miguel Salazar, a merchant and person in charge of organizing
this event, had a brilliant idea of introducing a transformation: in the
first part of this event, men sing and dance dressed as monks, Japanese,
seamen, astronomers, students, Greeks etc. In every Bajada both the dance
and the song has to be different. On the contrary, the polka that
accompanies the Danza de los Enanos in the second part of this festivity
has always been the same, composed in 1925 by Palmeran Domingo Santos
Rodríguez. In just a few seconds, the choir transform into enanos
(dwarfs) and dance the fast and thrilling polka played by the Banda de
Música Municipal de San Miguel (the San Miguel Municipal Music Band).

The enanos will dance all night along the cobbled streets of Santa Cruz de la Palma, which are packed with spectators. Their last dance will take place in front of the Barco de la Virgen, at La Alameda, early in the morning, under the first rays of the sun. And they will say goodbye for five years.

I tell my story with a kayak on the beach of Las Canteras, Gran Canaria.

It happened during a summer camp organized by the government of the Canary Islands, and after a long wait, it was my turn to try the experience. With test anxiety, I started rowing with great force, until there came a time when I was in the middle of the beach far away from the coast and tired.
PD: I do not happen again.

A good story was when the kayak capsized, and I was somewhat overwhelmed by to getting back.
I thought it was an easy, but it is very physical.

Arinaga Beach

The dam is located in the municipality of Santa Lucia,near that town exactly.
An amazing picture can find there are many palm trees there and the large number of species found in that environment.

First I would recommend visiting the viewer area, where you can get some wonderful photos of the dam and its surroundings, and admire the wonderful place where the dam is located.

The sunsets are spectacular in the dam, and also, if we feel like eating, we can always approach the village of Santa Lucia and enjoy good food in small restaurants.

The path which leaves Llanos del Garañón is straightforward and leads us to Cruz de Tejeda, a crossroads for the whole Island and an obligatory passing place for the traveller. The area made up by Llanos del Garañón and Llanos de la Pez has spaces for recreation and relaxation, providing toilets, drinking water, barbecues, tables with seats, and a bar and small shop.
Leaving Garañón, after 100 metres of dirt track situated to the right of the green fence of the campsite and following a slight ascent and a small pinewood, we cross over another dirt track which takes us to the Camping Area of Corral de los Juncos. Here, we find two paths going down. The one on the left continues over a bed of pine needles onto a stony path which in turn leads us to cornice from where we can view the Caldera de Tejeda. The crater, hewn out of steep ravines, is crowned by two of the geological symbols of the Island: the Roque Nublo and the Roque Bentayga.

In my experience, my family we are five people, my father, my mother and my two brothers when we traveled to other islands, we have always had a wide range of offerings to the choice.

I remember once being in a hotel in Jandia (Fuerteventura) where I spent the whole day playing with my brothers and children German and English at the pools, tennis courts and all sorts of activities that we organized during the day.
In Tenerife, I remember that one of the leaders took us to the group of children who were playing on the beach there, we organize games and all with the security and oversight of multiple monitors who were in charge at all times that we are not missing anything.

No doubt, I can recognize that a child I had the good fortune to enjoy a lot in the hotels on the island, and make friends with people from other countries, that today I have the luck to preserve.

If you are passionate about nature and like the mysterious, I think this place is what you want.

My experience in this place is not very different from the stories they tell of that place. Honestly, it can scare a lot. It all started 2 years ago during spring break, some friends invited me to spend the weekend in Tenerife, and the plan was to hold a camp in the ravine of Badajoz, situated in the municipality of Güimar. I had heard some of the stories of this ravine were counted as:

- It is the gateway to another dimension
- luminous beings that were there
- The myth of the mining caves (caves that are closed to prevent the passage of many curious)
- colored lights on the walls of the gorge
- Gregorian sing ....

I could go on telling many but I lived there was very normal. Leaving aside the mysterious item, the gorge itself is a wonder, mysticism and the flora and fauna found there makes it a place where travelers nature lovers attend.

If you are looking for peace and tranquility, this place is a must on your reference point. Here you will find a variety of floral species native to the Canary Islands at the same time you breathe clean air. Oasis Park is a large nature reserve in the open where we can find the largest pool of camels in Europe. This reserve is located in "La Lajita "south of Fuerteventura. When I was little boy, I remember one of my favorite places was Palmitos Park, in the gorge of "Palmitos. "
He was one of my favorite places because it was there I saw so many animals together for the first time a toddler animal was not used to seeing in everyday life. The exact image I have in my mind is that of the peacock, I remember seeing that animal as if it were a chicken, go to pet him, to my surprise that needed all her plumage amazing.

Charca de Maspalomas (Gran Canaria)

Cenobio de Valerón (Gran Canaria)

When I was little boy I remember from many special visits, that of Cenobio of Valeron, and it was an image that made me think how they lived the canaries in the past and what they did to survive and be better people.

The Cenobio is within an archaeological park in the town of Guia, Gran Canaria, it is a communal barn built and used by the natives of the island next to the painted cave Galdar form one of the most emblematic sites island.
Once there, the image that most surprised me were the multitudes of caves that were there. I remember the guide explained to us that every cave belonged to other Aboriginal families, they identified their caves by means of symbols canaries. The material on which were engraved these symbols, ie, the gate material was not clear, although it is thought could be done with stone slabs, or clothing.

According to the books, the name of the monastery is due to the romantic belief that there lived a celibate priestess harimaguada calls, which would stay with the young noble class to her wedding. Besides the de Valeron was Cenobio Heritage Site in 1978.

Aldea de San Nicolás - Gran Canaria

From childhood I remember how every weekend I told my mother I wanted to go with my cousins to the cave in the ravine have Guayadeque. I hope to convey with my words a little of what there anyone can live.

Traida del Gofio y del Agua (Agüimes)

One of the most anticipated events of the citizens of the south-east of the island of Gran Canaria. This particular festival is held in the Municipality of Agüimes, where the streets full of people "gofio" do not stop launching this product one another canary.

The "Vará del Pescao" is the name that is known to one of the great feasts of the island which is held on the beach Arinaga in the month of September, in the municipality of Agüimes. Personally, I have lived this event since I was little. I remember when my mother took me along with my uncles and cousins to the beach for a fish barbecue. I remember seeing hours before the party started tweaking their coaches fishermen, women mending clothes and children playing on the edge of the beach in the sun.
It is certainly one of the great festivals of the Canary Islands.

This beautiful place is situated in the beautiful town of Ingenio (Gran Canaria). A place full of history and traditions.

The Museum is known for its traditional "portal de Belen" and the representation of the birth of baby Jesus. Currently, the only place we can find a natural waterfall in the gorge of kestrels in Gran Canaria. The same is located near the city of Telde. Hiking mandatory destination of Gran Canaria, this trail starts to go slowly and enjoy the natural beauties that include water running off the slopes.

Last year, snow fell in Tejeda. I remember very well that day as we were studying a group of friends, and half of a class we had the great idea of not attending the last class of the day, and go to Tejeda to enjoy the snow.

The landscape that we find there was wonderful and a sense of joy ran through us, as they see snow in the Canary Islands is very difficult and is unusual.

We spent most of the day drinking hot chocolate, throwing snowballs, making snowmen on top of cars and taking lots of pictures. At the end of the day, not all snow days in the Canary Islands.

Since I was a baby, I lived in the town of Ingenio (Gran Canaria).I've seen it grow year after year the people and seen it grow its inhabitants.
I could tell thousands of stories that have happened in this town, but just tell them what the can find.If you were my guest (who will be when visiting Gran Canaria), nothing else entering the town I would recommend eating at the precipice of Guayadeque, a place where beautiful scenery surrounds you in a feeling of pleasure and relaxation.

Then, we could visit the old town, and learn of its history. This is where the Festival International de Folklore de la Villa de Ingenio, which attracts many people from around the world, showing us their culture, dances and traditional costumes.

Maspalomas is simply beautiful and needs to be seen to be believed! Fine white sand and wind-sculpted dunes set against the blue sea are truly an amazing sight. Of course a beach this lovely is going to be popular, especially where the sunbeds are located.

The dunes can be reached by walking through a large arched entrance on Avenida de Tirajana. Walk down a short lane and you will be in the right place. Remember to bring a towel and flip-flops as the sand can get very hot. Every 100 metres or so there are kiosks selling refreshments.

You'll find Maspalomas beach divided into four areas: the first perfect for families and kids, the second and the fourth are nudist zones and the third is popular with the gay community.

Maspalomas beach is a true paradise for all beach and fun lovers, for families with children as well as sun worshippers, especially if you want to get away from the cold north European winter!

César Manrique Cabrera (Arrecife, April 24, 1919 Arrecife - Teguise, September 25, 1992) was a painter, sculptor, architect and artist originally from the Spanish island of Lanzarote. - Pues sin duda la mejor feria a la que he asistido. Es impresionante lo bien organizada que esta y la cantidad de gente de todo el mundo que acude a este evento.

- The best show I've ever attended. It's amazing how well organized this and the number of people worldwide who come to this event.

2- ¿Qué tareas has realizado en la feria?

- Mi tarea se basaba principalmente en captar personas a nuestro stand y explicarles los sellos de calidad y aclararle dudas sobre nuestras islas.

What tasks you performed at the fair?

- My task was mainly to capture people to our stand and explain the hallmarks of quality and clarify questions about our islands.

3- ¿Qué tal la acogida de la gente en el stand de islas canarias? ¿Salían satisfechos y convencidos?

- Casi todo el mundo hablaba de nuestro stand. No solo por su colorido y su puesta en escena, con bailes y espectáculos cada poco tiempo, si no por la tecnología utilizada para facilitar la información a los interesados. Había pantallas táctiles con fotos y videos de los lugares que pertenecían a los sellos de calidad. Así que con dos clicks podías saber en cual de las 7 islas se podía hacer submarinismo o escalada por ejemplo.

Y no solo eso si no que todo el mundo y me refiero a todos los países representados en esta feria, hablaban positivamente de nosotros. En cuanto a como será a largo plazo también dependerá en parte del apoyo político y periodístico. Igualmente creo que atraerá mas turistas y no solo eso, lo que es mas importante, turistas de calidad.
